Basic cleaning

Use a soft-bristled brush to remove lint. Brush in one direction for best results. Watch the video here.

Deep cleaning

If your hat requires more attention or has slight deformations, use steam from a kettle. Apply the steam and brush gently in one direction.

Deformation correction

Using your fingers and steam, mold the hat to return it to its original shape.

Lint removal

Use the adhesive side of a tape to effectively remove lint.

Severe damage

If your hat has significant damage, it is best to take it to a professional for repair.

How to Clean Toquilla Straw Hats

Dust removal

If your hat is just covered in dust, use a soft-bristled brush to gently remove it.

Cleaning with a damp cloth

Use a cloth slightly dampened with water to clean a small area as a test, then continue with the rest of the hat. Finish by wiping the entire surface with a dry cloth.

Stain removal

Use a white pencil eraser on the stained areas. This method is effective, but is not recommended for colored hats as it can alter the shade.
